to continue or to abandon?

Earlier this week Matt and I had a very serious conversation about my blog. In a nutshell, we discussed Claire's involvement, and the fact that her pictures are all over the place on here. I mean, technically, this is my journal to her. I have a baby book and I write in it when I need to but it doesn't really get the daily grid incorporated into it.

Now, I have been keeping an eye out on my blog stats, and I'm not sure if my actual followers are viewing my posts, but not commenting (which is fine, of course) or if some creepy McCreepstein is doing inappropriate things with the pictures of my beautiful daughter.  It happens every day but I told myself that I would protect my images, which I did, but there is away around everything. With all of the abductions and awful things that happen to babies & small children, I've decided to change some things around here.

I can do one of three things. They are:
1. Quit blogging altogether.
2. Make my blog private.
3. Stop using her pictures in all of my blog posts.

I didn't think making my blog private would matter much, and that my daily (or so I think, daily) followers would notice. But one of my fellow blogging mammas noticed. (You know who you are.) So  I am second guessing my choice to go straight to private.

So here's what I'm begging you to do for me.

Please let me know if you do read my blog. If it's something you enjoy.
Is there something you dislike? I mean, I am getting tons of views but zero comments on pretty much all of my posts {this is what makes me think that strange people are viewing my blog and makes me wonder if I should even keep it public. I mean not trying to sound like a cry baby by any means, but what's the point of writing without pictures if the stuff I'm writing isn't pleasurable for other?}

I won't be offended if you straight up tell me that my writing style sucks and I have nothing fun to read. Once again, I do this mostly as a journal, but I would be lying if I said I didn't love blogging because I totally do. I just need to know where to go from here.

Also, if you would like to make your pictures safer, let me know and I will post the code for your blog.

Thanks ladies! Happy Thursday :)

  1. leave it to lil old me... im here reading :) but im SO TOTALLY with you on the creepy thing. my hubs and i have had similar convos and its a real thing. i had mine set to private when i was blogging my preggo until my family and friends were getting pissy cuz they had to create an account to see my blog. and honestly, in the beginning, i was blogging to share my pregnancy with them! So that didn't work. now that i want to use it to document livs babyhood (since i suck at baby booking) im getting a little more skeptical about it. however, i know, like myself in the beginning, i was reading but not commenting and thats totally fine too, but theres always that scary thought in the back of our minds. the long and short, to this point exactly is why i don't post tons. but if we make our blogs private we totally could share more with those that really matter (and those that want to see will create an account to be able to view it!!!). and i know im a stranger to you and you to me, but i love reading your stuff! its kinda like have a blog-pen-pal. :) im sure i have more to say but ill stop now!

    1. I know you do because you let me know ;) I think I should find away to make it password protected and give people the password. IDK if it's possible but I'm going to find out!

You girls are my friends, even though I don't know you in real life! I want to be apart of your journey and you apart of mine!

you dont have to stop--i love it ;)

  3. I don't comment a ton but I read every post! I love reading about Claire since her and Summer just could be BFF's one day. :) But I totally get the creepy thing. I've tried making mine private. I've occasionally turned on the "no right click" so people don't take my pictures, I've watermarked my pictures, but ultimately I end up keeping it out there because I do like to share what is going on with my family and keep people updated.

    1. Thanks for letting me know!! Yes they could Kate :) I will most def. be eliminating 95% of Claire's photos from my posts. Yeah, I'll do one here and there but they def. will be less frequent. I'm too cautious, but is it really a bad thing these days?

    1. Thank Jaim! I really appreciate that :) They are both things I really enjoy, especially one about the other, but I don't know if it's in the best interest of our child anymore. Ya know?
I wrote a new post about it! Hope you will find it useful! Keeping our little ones safe is/should be #1.

Hi Erikka! I found your blog when I was pregnant with my now 8 week old daughter. I don't comment on blogs, although, I do blog myself, so I'm not sure why I don't. I loved following your pregnancy while I was pregnant and now love following your daughter as she grows, but as a new mom myself, I would totally understand you making the blog private or password protecting it.

    1. Hello darling :)
Thanks so much for sharing it really means a lot to me! I will head over to your blog and check it out. It's hard to find a common ground between something you really enjoy and what's best for your family. For us, safety comes first.

  7. I'm sorry! I know i should've updated sooner. We had a bit of a rough start, as I was dealing with a little PPD. We're getting that under control. I spend almost all of my time nursing Madelyn or holding her while she sleeps...leaves little time for much else. She just turned 3 months today! Hard to believe...it has flown by! I have every intention of updating the blog soon...ish. ;) I've missed you too! XOXO

    1. Don't be story hunny! I'm just so relieved to know that Madelyn is here and safe. I always think if the worst possible scenario. I'm sorry about your PPD, and glad things are getting better for you. Ohh goodness, if there's one person who knows something about nursing all the time & constantly holding their babe, it's me! She and Claire are exactly 2 months apart :)

Do you have Instagram? I'd love to seen your little lady. I bet she's just beautiful, like her momma! Thanks so much for the update and I look forward to hearing from you again in the future!! Take care of yourself and enjoy that baby :)
